It’s me, your friendly neighbourhood caffeine addict!

Hello and welcome to the front row seat of my slow decent into madness. I’ve been on this road for a long time, and I am delighted to say that now there is actually a view!

To start, thank you for being here. Whether you’re a friend, family, or a complete stranger, having your support and interest in the wild ramblings I’ve compiled over the past few years, I am beyond grateful to have you. The compilation of these introspective tangents about life, love, and the struggle of trying to exists as a person that you yourself can be proud of, is my newest (and so far only, sorry mom) novel, A Light in the Dark.

I want to use this platform to create a record for myself, to prove how hard and confusing it can be to try and hack pieces of yourself into tiny words that resemble something entertaining, but also how worth the effort it all is.

A long time ago, a young girl lived in the wilds of a tiny northern Canadian town. This young girl spent more time running through forests imagining the lives of imaginary characters and their complex (and usually fairy based) lives. As this insecure girl grew up, she found that she preferred the company of her friends bound in the pages of the books she cherished more than herself. As an adult she struggled to find a path that felt authentic, until she picked up a pen and hallucinated an entire series.

I am beyond proud of what this work has become, and if you had asked by two years ago, when the first draft was done, to put it out into the world I would have laughed in your face. Contradictions, insecurities, and inconsistencies abounded, but after a lot of therapy, a lot of rereads, and a lot of help from my friends, IT IS DONE!

Well, it is as done as it it going to get. For now.

Join me while I try to navigate my way through the world of authorship!

Your clumsy navigator,

Isla
